Holiday Preparation

In the lead up to going away on holiday, please ensure you have checked your medication and healthcare requirements prior to travel.
Travel vaccination appointments need to be booked at least 6 weeks before travel.
If you are going to run out of medication during your holiday, please ensure you contact the Practice prior to travel. Standard medication requests can take up to 48 (working) hours to be processed. If you require a review this may further extend the time to prescribe your medication. Medication requests will not be given urgent on the day appointment slots.

If you require quantities of medication that differ to what you are normally prescribed i.e. you are going on a long trip, or you require alternative support/medication i.e. delaying of a menstrual cycle, please ensure you contact the Practice 3 weeks prior to travel to book a routine appointment. These requests will not be given urgent on the day appointment slots.

Scam/Phishing Text Messages

We are aware of a text message that is being sent to patients that claims to be from the NHS, advising patients they have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Omicron. There is then a link to book a home test.

This is not a message from the Practice and should be deleted.
The full text message will be (or similar):
NHS: We identified you as a contact of someone who recently tested positive for Omicron. You must book a home test kit: https ://pcr- tracing-people .com’

To book a PCR test or a Covid-19 vaccination, see the ‘Covid-19/Coronavirus Information’ page on our website for official guidance.

Green Impact

Castle Healthcare Practice is delighted to have signed up to the Green Impact for Health Toolkit and we are actively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

The climate emergency is also a health emergency, and health care in the UK contributes 5.4% of the UK’s carbon emissions. We need to enhance the health of future generations, and this means operating within the sustainable boundaries of the planet.

Fortunately most of the solutions for the planet also make our health better, for example; eating a mainly plant-based diet, engaging in active travel and exercise in nature, avoiding smoking and reducing pollution etc. This will enhance our health and reduce our need for medications, with further benefits to the NHS, your health and the carbon footprint of healthcare.

Welcome to Castle Healthcare Practice, we provide primary care services for West Bridgford and the surrounding areas. We welcome all patients living within our practice area. Click for Castle's Catchment Area Map

We hope that you will take your time to browse our website where you will find lots of useful information about the Practice and the services that we offer.

Castle Healthcare Practice is a teaching and training general practice located on Wilford Lane in West Bridgford, Nottingham. We are open 8am until 6:30pm Monday through to Friday. Our Doctors, Nurses and Administration Team aim to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.

The Practice has mixture of male and female GPs who all provide pre-bookable appointments, telephone appointments and same day appointments. All same day appointments are dealt with via a telephone triage process and if it is deemed necessary a same day appointment will be booked with an appropriate medical professional.

We offer a range of appointments with our Nursing Team, these are provided by our Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists. They provide appointments for chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Heart Failure etc. We are fortunate to be able to work in liaison with specialist Diabetes nurses and Fracture nurses, who come into the Practice and provide services direct to our Patients.

The practice benefits from having other aligned provider services that work within the Practice; they are services such as Ultrasound, Diabetic Retinopathy, Aortic Aneurysm Screening and Orthopaedics.  These are all services that are provided on site, which prevents patients having to travel to secondary care to receive this treatment. There is also a 100 hour Pharmacy and a physiotherapy service on site.

The building is fully DDA compliant and offers easy access for patients with mobility difficulties. The Practice benefits from having a lift which provides access from the car park, which has designated disabled car parking bays. We also have ramped access into the main entrance, which has automatic opening doors and the whole building is wheelchair accessible. We are registered with Disabled Go, to see our entry please  click Disabled Go  For patients who are hard of hearing, a hearing loop is available.

We have 119 car parking spaces at the practice and have dedicated parking bays for cycles and motor bikes. The Practice has partially funded the Local Link buses within West Bridgford area which regularly pick up and drop off at various locations around West Bridgford, including the surgery.

Please use NG2 7RN if using a Sat Nav device to find the surgery.
