Repeat Prescription Management
What's happening?
The practice is trialing the use of a protocol to process all repeat requests for medication. The protocol will allow practice staff to identify patients who may require an intervention.
Why?
The purpose of the protocol is to ensure:
- Patient safety
- Adherence to medication
- Reduce potential waste
What does this mean for me?
There will be no change to how you order and collect your medication, however you may be contacted by the practice as part of the protocol. The practice may contact you by telephone to discuss any of the following:
- Overdue medication review
- Over/under ordering
- General queries relating to your repeat medication
- Synchronizing your medication
- Medication ordered too early
You may notice some changes to quantities, this will be part of synchronizing your medication so all your medication is aligned, this is turn will reduce the need to order medications at different times of the month.
Repeat Prescriptions
If you are taking certain medications on a regular basis the doctor may authorise you to obtain repeat prescriptions from the surgery.
Please use the computer generated repeat slip attached to your prescription to tick which items you require and forward it to the surgery.
You can also fax us on 0115 981 0424.
Alternatively you may now order your repeat medication online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration form, obtainable from Reception, prior to using the system.
We regret that, unless the circumstances are exceptional, repeat prescription requests will not be taken over the telephone.
Collections
You may arrange for a chemist to collect your prescription on your behalf simply by contacting your chosen pharmacy. Alternatively, it can be returned to you by post if you supply a stamped addressed envelope.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications. A message will be printed on repeat slips when a review is due. Please ensure you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow at least two full working days for prescriptions
to be processed and remember to take
weekends and bank holidays into account.
